Dear delegates, 

 

It is with great honor and joy that I welcome you to the sixth ClerMUN conference, taking place from November 5th to 8th, 2025, at the Hôtel de Région. This year's conference is centered around the compelling theme: “Rights and Freedoms”.

 

Rights and freedoms are the foundation of a fair and just society. They give the opportunity to individuals to express themselves, pursue their dreams and live without fear of being discriminated or oppressed. They ensure the respect of human dignity, equality and personal expression, leading to protection from oppression and tyranny.

 

However, these rights and liberties are at stake today, their risks stemming from various factors. From growing digital surveillance to the rise of authoritarian regimes, from the deepening of inequalities to global crises like wars, pandemics, and climate change, all these elements are jeopardizing the fundamental rights and freedoms necessary for a peaceful world.

ClerMUN 2025 represents the commitment to addressing the threats posed to freedoms and rights in an increasingly conflictual world. To tackle these issues, we are establishing five committees: the Security Council, HRC, CSW, UNESCO, and the International Court of Justice.

 

Your participation in this annual conference showcases your dedication to building a brighter future. As Ban Ki-Moon, former United Nations Secretary General so aptly stated:

“You are here to step into the shoes of UN ambassadors — to draft resolutions, to plot strategy, to negotiate with your allies as well as your adversaries. Your goal may be to resolve a conflict, to cope with a natural disaster or to bring nations together on an issue like climate change. You may be playing a role, but you are also preparing for life. You are acting as global citizens.”

 

Through our united work, we can become the driving force necessary to addressing these significant challenges. I firmly believe that we, as global citizens, hold a vital place in shaping a better world.
